ESPN reportedly nearing deal with Hall of Fame QB, prominent broadcaster, as ‘Monday Night Football’ lead analyst

ESPN is reportedly making a big change to its “Monday Night Football” booth. Andrew Marchand of the New York Post reports that Troy Aikman is expected to finalize a deal making him the new lead analyst on “Monday Night Football.”
Aikman has been a FOX color commentator since 2001. Ahead of the 2002 season, Aikman was named to FOX’s “A-Team” with Cris Collinsworth. After teaming with Collinsworth through 2004, Aikman has worked alongside Joe Buck in the booth.
At FOX, Aikman has called 6 Super Bowls (XXXIX, XLII, XLV, XLVIII, LI, and LIV). The legendary Dallas Cowboys quarterback was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006.
After publishing his “first draft,” Marchand added in a later tweet that Aikman’s deal with ESPN will be for 5 years. The Post article also notes that Aikman was being courted by Amazon.
Ahead of the 2020 season, ESPN named Steve Levy, Louis Riddick and Brian Griese as its booth crew for the primary MNF broadcast.
