Oklahoma’s unexpected coaching opening is generating plenty of speculation about who will take over in Norman.
Appearing on Monday’s edition of the Dan Patrick Show, Berry Tramel of The Oklahoman said the 3 names he has heard most often are South Carolina coach Shane Beamer, Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables, and Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule.
Here's what #Oklahoma wish list to replace Lincoln Riley could look like according to @BerryTramel:

Beamer and Venables are both former Oklahoma assistant coaches, while Rhule had a strong run in the Big 12 at Baylor.
Tramel, who has deep ties to the Sooners program, went as far as to say that he believes if Beamer were still on staff at Oklahoma that he might have already been named head coach.
“Shane Beamer … he’s a guy to look for,” Tramel said. “Very impressive. The Beamer family is as classy and as well respected as any in America. OU loved him. If he was still on Lincoln’s staff I think he’d have already been named head coach.”
