Oklahoma unveiled a statue of softball coach Patty Gasso on Friday afternoon.

Gasso is widely-regarded as one of the best softball coaches in NCAA history. She’s third all-time in both wins and winning percentage and is the sport’s leader in both categories amongst active head coaches.

This statue dedication comes after Gasso led Oklahoma to a historic 4-peat at the Women’s College World Series. The Sooners have won the last 4 softball national national championships over Texas (2024 and 2022) and Florida State (2023 and 2021).

Here’s a look at the new statue, which sits outside of OU’s brand new softball stadium:

Per OU, Gasso has recruited 79 All-Americans and 192 all-conference selections during her time in Norman. Oklahoma won 15 regular-season Big 12 titles under Gasso, including 11 straight from 2012-23. Gasso and the Sooners will start SEC play for the first time in the spring.

Oklahoma’s board of regents also approved a significant raise in Gasso’s salary on Friday. Her new deal runs through 2028 and includes a salary of $2 million annually, according to The Oklahoman.

Oklahoma will be amongst the favorites to win the national championship again in 2025. However, the Sooners will have to replace a significant part of their core that was instrumental in winning 4 titles in a row. Kinzie Hansen, Jayda Coleman, Tiare Jennings, Rylie Boone, Nicole May, Kelly Maxwell, Alynah Torres and Alyssa Brito are all out of collegiate eligibility.

Gasso has been Oklahoma’s head coach since the 1995 season. In total, Gasso is 1,515-352-2 at Oklahoma and has won 8 Women’s College World Series titles.
