With the Southeastern Conference lifting the ban on alcohol sales in football stadiums, member institutions are making final decisions on the subject for 2019.

Texas A&M recently became the first SEC football stadium to announce it would sell alcohol to the general public in its stadium this fall. The SEC’s stance allows beer and wine to be sold but not liquor. The full list of guidelines adopted by the SEC when it comes to alcohol sales can be read here.

So, what will happen at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium this fall? Ole Miss’ interim AD Keith Carter told 247Sports that it’s unlikely.

“I wouldn’t anticipate it happening for football this fall just based on timing alone,” Ole Miss interim athletic director Keith Carter told the Spirit. “We would leave the door open that maybe later in the academic year, if the timing works out and we decided it’s the right thing to do, that that door would be opened at that time.”

Although it’s unlikely to happen this fall, the university is doing its own research to discuss whether it’s something they want to explore in the future.

“The first thing we’ve got to do as an institution is figure out if we think it’s the right thing to do, if we figure it will be better or worse for our game day atmosphere, all of those things. We’re in the process of doing that right now internally,” Carter told the site.
