Lane Kiffin addresses the next step in Ole Miss’ development as a program

Lane Kiffin led Ole Miss to a 10-win season and Sugar Bowl appearance last season. So would it be reasonable to believe the next step for the program is to win the SEC West?
“I don’t think like that, and that may be wrong,” Kiffin said Wednesday at a press conference. “I think each year is so new, and especially nowadays with the turnover of your roster. To think we left off here and now we’re supposed to go to here. This isn’t the NFL where you’ve got most of your roster returning the next year, and take the next step.”
It’s not just the Rebels’ roster turnover, but also their opponents, and Kiffin cautioned to share that his stance doesn’t mean winning the SEC West is not achievable.
“That’s just so far from today,” Kiffin said. “How can we get players better today, and we’ll worry about that stuff down the road. That’s outcome-based and we’re all process-based.”
The SEC media picked Ole Miss to finish fourth in the division behind Alabama, Texas A&M and Arkansas. Of course, the biggest question to answer between now and a possible trip to Atlanta in December is at quarterback where the Rebels are trying to replace Matt Corral. Jaxson Dart and Luke Altmyer are competing for the job.
