The most scary news of the week came out of Ole Miss when Demarcus Thomas was injured and airlifted to a hospital earlier this week.

On the SEC coaches media teleconference on Wednesday, Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin shared his reaction to the news of Thomas’ recovery.

“It really was cool the relief, like you just mentioned, I mean it was when they came back and said he was moving,” Kiffin said. “Then when they released him later that day was, I mean, felt like a miracle.”

Kiffin then explained his rollercoaster of emotions.

“So he’s back you know he’s not practicing but he was out there and so you know he was grateful of all the help and support and prayers and our support of his mom getting her and everything and take care of her,” Kiffin said. “So, it was just now it’s the classic, like I say lost wallet or lost cell phone like, you know, you freak out when you lose it. You get it back you’re all excited was really right back to where you started. … A lot of times you don’t appreciate it so it was just so awesome to know to get the news if you would use okay.”

Ole Miss is off this week, and returns to action next week against South Carolina.

“We have to play more consistent defense, get more turnovers,” Kiffin said. “We need to be more consistent running the ball.”
