Luke named Jack Bicknell Jr. the new offensive line coach offensive line coach Friday afternoon. Bicknell brings 31 years of coaching experience to the Rebels staff, including 24 years in college and most recently seven seasons in the National Football League. He was previously on the Miami Dolphins staff as assistant offensive line coach.
“We are excited to add Coach Bicknell’s experience and expertise to our staff,” Luke said in a school release. “Being a former head coach, he brings a perspective that I look forward to having in our coaches’ meetings. As a Super Bowl champion, his track record gives him instant credibility with our linemen, and I can’t wait to see his impact with the players.”
Bicknell played college football at Boston College from 1981-85 and after graduation became a graduate assistant with the Eagles, where his father, Jack, was head coach (1981-90). In 1999, he became the head coach at Louisiana Tech, a position he held until 2006. He would then return to Boston College as an assistant head coach and offensive line coach (2007-08) before jumping to the NFL in 2009 with the New York Giants.
