Ole Miss basketball signee receives release from NLI following Kermit Davis’ departure

Ole Miss basketball signee Josh Hubbard has been released from his National Letter of Intent, according to a report.
That’s per On3’s Joe Tipton, who cites a conversation with Hubbard. His release is tied to Ole Miss’ decision to part ways with head coach Kermit Davis last week.
Here’s the statement Hubbard released via On3:
“Due to the announcement of Coach Davis, I have received my release from Ole Miss and will inspect other options at this time. I would like to thank Ole Miss and Coach Davis for recruiting me and the Rebels will still be a option.”

Hubbard is a Mississippi native. He attends Madison-Ridgeland Academy in Maddison, Miss. He’s listed at 5-foot-10, 180 pounds.
This is a big loss for the Rebels’ 2023 recruiting class. Hubbard is a 4-star prospect. He’s currently ranked as the No. 89 overall player and the No. 15 point guard in the country, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 1 player from the state of Mississippi.
Hubbard has also received offers from programs like Mississippi State, Georgetown, USC, Kansas State and Houston.
Ole Miss still has 3 players signed in the class of 2023.
