Report: Former LSU general manager Austin Thomas has offer pulled from Ole Miss
Austin Thomas is still searching.
After becoming the SEC’s first on-staff general manager at LSU, it appears that Thomas isn’t having an easy time figuring out his role at his next destination.
Thomas was initially set to join Jeremy Pruitt’s staff at Tennessee. After talks fell through with the Vols, Thomas had his sights set on a position at Ole Miss.
But according to a report from Ole Miss Spirit, talks with the Rebels also fell through:
I reached out to Ross Bjork for comment on Austin Thomas: “Austin knew exactly the process. He committed to us, told us he was in throughout the process. Kept going back and forth. We want people who want to be at Ole Miss. If he doesn’t want to be here, we don’t want him here.”

It’s unclear what exactly Thomas’ title would’ve been at Ole Miss, but it likely would’ve had something to do with recruiting.
Based on that quote from Garrett, Thomas could be considering another option. FootballScoop.com reported that despite Thomas’ issues committing to another program, he’s now in talks with Texas A&M.
Thomas was at LSU from 2013-17, and he earned the title of “general manager” when Ed Orgeron was promoted to head coach in 2016.
