18 SEC players among Mike Mayock’s top-5 players at their position heading into 2018 NFL Draft

Now that the NFL Combine is behind us, teams are updating their player rankings and draft boards ahead of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Following the event in Indianapolis, several SEC players have risen into the top five of their position rankings, and NFL.com analyst Mike Mayock has 18 former SEC stars among the top-five players at their positions.

Mayock’s full position-by-position rankings can be found here, but these are the 18 SEC players who made the cut:

Running back:

  • No. 2 — Derrius Guice, LSU
  • No. 3 — Sony Michel, Georgia
  • No. 5 (tie) — Nick Chubb, Georgia

Wide receiver:

  • No. 1 — Calvin Ridley, Alabama
  • No. 3 — Christian Kirk, Texas A&M
  • No. 5 (tie) — DJ Chark, LSU

Tight end:

  • No. 1 — Hayden Hurst, South Carolina

Tackle:

  • No. 5 (tie) — Martinas Rankin, Mississippi State

Interior OL:

  • No. 2 — Isaiah Wynn, Georgia
  • No. 5 (tie) — Frank Ragnow, Arkansas

Interior DL:

  • No. 2 — Da’Ron Payne, Alabama
  • No. 3 — Taven Byran, Florida

Edge rusher:

  • No. 4 — Lorenzo Carter, Georgia
  • No. 5 (tie) — Arden Key, LSU

Linebacker:

  • No. 2 — Roquan Smith, Georgia
  • No. 4 — Rashaan Evans, Alabama

Safety:

  • No. 1 — Minkah Fitzpatrick, Alabama
  • No. 3 — Ronnie Harrison, Alabama
