There is currently an arrest warrant out for Carl Pelini, the football coach at Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, Ohio.
According to J. Breen Mitchell of 21 WFMJ, Pelini has been charged with domestic violence, which led to Boardman police issuing the warrant. Mitchell shared that the police report stated Pelini’s wife, Julie, claimed Pelini hit her, with the police finding her with a black eye and blood on the kitchen floor.
Pelini is currently in his second season as the coach at Cardinal Mooney after previously spending nearly 2 decades in the college ranks. That included a stint as the head coach at Florida Atlantic from 2012-13, and 2 stints as the defensive coordinator at Youngstown State (2015-18, 2019).
Pelini’s younger brother, Bo, was the defensive coordinator at LSU from 2005-07, then again served in the role during the 2020 season.
Pelini has been placed on administrative leave by Cardinal Mooney, per Mitchell, as the school will wait for the “investigation and final resolution.”
