Cole Cubelic delivers takeaways every Sunday following Saturday’s SEC games, a social media staple during the college football season.
The Week 12 slate featured all 14 teams in action, but only 4 games of conference play. Six teams had out-of-conference tuneups before Rivalry Week. The division titles were locked up in Week 11, but the Week 12 slate proved important for the College Football Playoff race and for the teams still fighting to become bowl eligible.
Here’s what Cubelic had to say after watching each team’s Saturday performance:
ARKANSAS: Bowl eligible! KJ makes it go. Amazing how different they are when he’s in & healthy. OL was great! 5 just so good, tough, physical, vision, shifty. LBs did nice job staying stationary when asked & attacking LOS other times. Leadership not a problem for this team.

FLORIDA: Brutal loss. Drops, missed pressures. Snap issues. Sloppy. Missed some shot plays. 8 helped. Run game just ran into a wall, looked like it had a chance early. Formations seemed to be an issue for the def. Misfit run. 51 was flying around. Flags & 3rd downs really hurt.

KENTUCKY: S support in run game was nice. Thought DL played run well. 52 was good! Needed to be better on throws outside numbers. 7 tough. Needed to connect on more 1 on 1’s. 24 ran hard. Space was limited. Couldn’t find the catch & run plays. Had a few nice screens that missed.

MISSISSIPPI STATE: Handled their business. Record setting day for QB. Was smooth & in full control. Had plenty of time. Catch & run helped. Worked middle of field well. 63 played well up front, brought physicality! 34 looked good on def, 154 total yds allowed is great anytime!

OLE MISS: Couple flags just killed the. Turnovers hurt. Tough to overcome on road. 2 & 15 had a little rush but needed more. Needed to play a little heavier up front. Offense exceptional. Run game just nuts. 4 is incredible. 19 big part of plan. Protection broke down a few times.

TENNESSEE: Rough one in many ways. Left lot of yards out there on downfield throws. Drops hurt. Couldn’t find YAC. 76 has to get under control. 2 ran hard. Hated seeing 5 go down. Didn’t get to perimeter on D. DL flashed, not consistent. 24 active on def. Got out of gaps often.

VANDERBILT: I’ve said for weeks the effort has been there. Now good football has shows up with it! This one was big for Clark & the program. ST score was huge! TEs were great blocking & in pass game. QB made big throws at big moments! They just find the ball! 2 is great. OL tough

We’ve only got one more week of regular-season play left. We’ll see what Cubelic has to say after Rivalry Week!
