Comeback season? Antonio Callaway, Alex Collins to work out for NFL team

With the 2020 season just around the corner, NFL teams are trying to figure out their Week 1 53-man rosters. Preseason camp is about to wrap up and the Miami Dolphins are giving a last-minute look at a couple of former SEC standouts who have been out of the league this year.
Miami is bringing in former Florida wide receiver Antonio Callaway and former Arkansas running back Alex Collins for workouts. It’s not guaranteed that the Dolphins will sign either player, but the club certainly appears to be interested.
In 2018-19, Callaway played in 20 games for the Cleveland Browns before being waived and suspended 10 games by the NFL for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.
Callaway was set to play for the XFL’s Tampa Bay Vipers this past winter but was placed on injured reserve ahead of the first game with a reported lower-leg injury.
With the Browns, Callaway caught 51 passes for 675 yards and 5 touchdowns.
The Dolphins have shown interest in Collins before, bringing him in for a workout back in late January.
Collins did not play last season, spending much of the season dealing with off-the-field matters. A March 2019 arrest resulted in a three-game suspension which was handed down on Nov. 1, 2019, while he was a free-agent. With the suspension served, Collins is able to return to the field as soon as he lands with a team.
In three seasons (2016-18), Collins has played in 36 regular-season games, rushing 357 for 1,509 yards and 14 touchdowns. His best season came with the Ravens in 2017 when he was the team’s leading rusher, logging 212 carries for 973 yards.
