The SEC East race is in the spotlight as the 2022 season advances to Week 9.

No. 1 Georgia takes on division rival Florida in Jacksonville’s TIAA Bank Field, home of the NFL’s Jaguars. The game, no longer officially called the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, is the “SEC on CBS” showcase for Week 9. The SEC Network’s “SEC Nation” crew is also on hand to hype the rivalry clash.

No. 3 Tennessee, the SEC East’s other undefeated team, hosts No. 19 Kentucky in another border battle between division rivals. The Wildcats are 2-2 in conference play, needing a win over the Vols to hang on to any hopes of playing in the conference title game.

Ten SEC teams are in action on Saturday. The rest of the Saturday slate features Auburn vs. Arkansas, No. 25 South Carolina vs. Missouri and No. 15 Ole Miss at Texas A&M.

ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) is a simulation-based computer model that projects the outcome of every game. Here are the FPI’s picks for the 5 Saturday SEC games:

  • Auburn (56.3% chance to win) vs. Arkansas
  • Georgia (92.8% chance to win) vs. Florida (Jacksonville)
  • South Carolina (68.3% chance to win) vs. Missouri
  • Tennessee (82.9% chance to win) vs. Kentucky
  • Ole Miss (57.8% chance to win) at Texas A&M

We’ll see how those projections fare against Saturday’s results on the field. There have been plenty of surprises so far.
