ESPN’s Football Power Index has updated the College Football Playoff odds after the Week 4 slate. We saw several ranked teams go down and get bumped from the latest AP Poll as a result. The FPI formula has also been adjusted by bumping or raising several teams after a wild weekend.
While the 10 teams most likely to make the Playoffs may not be surprising, the order probably will be. Here are the top 10 teams in order of Playoff odds:
- Ohio State — 59.5%
- Oklahoma — 46.9%
- Texas — 44.3%
- Georgia — 34.8%
- Penn State — 34.0%
- Oregon — 32.3%
- Florida State — 30.4%
- Washington — 21.8%
- Alabama — 21.6%
- USC — 19.2%
Georgia and USC were the biggest fallers in the top 10, falling 2 and 3 spots, respectively. Washington and Penn State were the biggest risers, both jumping 2 spots.
The Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide are the only SEC teams to appear in the top 10. Future SEC teams Texas and Oklahoma are both featured inside the top 3. Despite what the FPI shows, Georgia remains the betting favorite in the 2023 national championship odds in search of a 3-peat.
With conference play just now getting underway, teams will have plenty of opportunities to move up or down in this list. The only other SEC team with a 5% or higher chance to make the Playoff is the LSU Tigers.
We will see how this list changes after another loaded slate in Week 5.
