Terrible news to share from Toledo as junior defensive lineman Jahneil Douglas has died following a shooting near campus. Douglas was just 22 years old.
The Toledo native appeared in seven games last season for the Rockets and 12 games total during his college career after being named a First-Team AP All-Ohio honoree during his prep career at Start High School.
The incident that took Douglas’ life took place outside of a restaurant called Gino’s Pizza around 11:30 p.m. According to WTOL 11, a fight broke out prior to the shooting. Douglas was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Jahneil Douglas made us proud with his hard work throughout high school, his commitment to being a strong role model, and his attitude towards success in college. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers after this senseless tragedy.
