LOOK: Fans absolutely love the Miami kicker’s name, baffled by his awful high school stats

When Bubba Baxa came out to kick a field goal that tied the LSU-Miami game at 3 early in the first quarter, he set Twitter ablaze.
Not only were fans raving about his name, but his abysmal high school stats drew plenty of confusion too.
As you can see below, Baxa was only 4-for-10 as a high school senior, prompting questions about how a kicker that inaccurate ended up at a prestigious program like Miami. Naturally, his second field goal attempt was no good:

Bubba Baxa isn't the starting kicker for Miami because he went 4-for-10 in high school last year. He's the starting kicker because his name is Bubba Baxa

The Miami kicker went 4/10 as a senior in high school, can someone explain how he is playing high level FBS?

If this game comes down to a field-goal attempt, things could get ugly for Bubba Baxa and the Hurricanes. He’s already 1-for-2 and could be closer to his 40-percent success rate before all is said and done.
