Report: Pac-12 considering hiring consultant to negotiate media rights deal independently of Larry Scott

How poorly is Larry Scott managing the Pac-12?
The league is reportedly working toward hiring intermediaries to do the job Scott was brought in to do — and that potential hire will work independently of Scott and report directly to the leadership of the schools that make up the league.
That’s according to documents obtained by Jon Wilner of The Mercury News.
Keep in mind, under Scott’s leadership, the league launched the widely-criticized Pac-12 Network that has largely been viewed as a disaster.
It’s gotten so bad that the Pac-12 is considering a “consultant” to go over the head of Scott and report directly to the Pac-12 presidents:
The plans are outlined in a series of executive emails focused on hiring a media consultant who could be given the authority to work independently of commissioner Larry Scott and report directly to the presidents.
Scott’s deal with the Pac-12 ends in 2022, the same year the next media rights deals are set to begin. Should the Pac-12 go through with these plans, you have to wonder what the nation’s highest-paid commissioner will be doing to earn his salary.
The Pac-12’s media rights deals are up in 2024 but the next deal will be finalized long before the current deal expires.
