Sam Hartman played his first game in a Notre Dame uniform on Saturday. The Fighting Irish beat Navy 42-3 in Week 0.

Hartman went on the ‘Dan Patrick Show’ on Monday. One of the topics they discussed were the schools who recruited Hartman after entering the transfer portal. Hartman revealed he had a lot of schools competing for him.

Patrick asked Hartman to name three schools who reached out. Hartman revealed that Florida, Auburn, and Alabama all recruited him.

“There was quite a few. I mean you can think of any college that needed a quarterback or was in need was reaching out. Florida was one. Auburn was another one. At the time, there was a little bit of Alabama. It was all strategic in my way of just knowing that it came down to the offense in place here at Notre Dame.”

It’s unfortunate that SEC fans will not be able to see how Hartman would’ve looked in either of the offenses. It would be something to see Hartman in a Nick Saban or Billy Napier offense.

Hugh Freeze coached some really impressive offenses at Ole Miss. In 2015, the Rebels led the conference in total offensive yards per game (517.8).

Can you imagine what it would be like for Hartman to play in the SEC among the nation’s best?
