SEC games lead to huge TV ratings in Week 2

Plenty of college football fans were tuned in on Saturday for the second weekend of the 2018 season. Especially for the high-profile SEC matchups.

Clemson-Texas A&M was the highest rated matchup of the day across all networks as it was also the second highest rated Saturday primetime game on ESPN since 2016. The broadcast peaked at a 4.0 rating in the 10:30-10:45 p.m. ET window.

The game came down to the final minutes as the Tigers held on to beat the Aggies, 28-26.

Earlier in the day, many fans were watching as Georgia handled South Carolina and won, 41-17. It was a matchup of two ranked teams as the No. 3 Bulldogs cruised past the No. 24 Gamecocks.

The Georgia-South Carolina afternoon matchup on CBS averaged a 2.4/6 rating for the highest rated afternoon game of the day.

ESPN’s College GameDay was broadcasted live from College Station, Texas, prior to Texas A&M’s home contest against Clemson, and the show also had strong ratings before the games got underway. College GameDay averaged a 1.4 across ESPN and ESPNU, which was up from the show’s rating in Week 2 last season.

The college football season is only getting started so there are sure to be more highly-rated, exciting SEC matchups on the way.
