The SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament had play suspended Friday evening in an unusual turn of events.

In Friday’s action between Georgia and LSU, play was halted in the second quarter due to moisture on the court from rain leaking through the roof of Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. Severe weather has also been reported in the area, so there’s the potential that could play into more delays in the action.

***UPDATE***

At 7:18 pm ET, play was able to be resumed per the SEC. Hopefully the rest of the evening goes off without a hitch.

Longtime fans of the SEC will remember the infamous 2008 SEC men’s tournament that was interrupted by a destructive tornado hitting downtown Atlanta. Hopefully, that is avoided this time around with play able to resume soon without any further delay or strong severe weather.
