Trent Dilfer went ballistic on one of his assistants on Saturday.

UAB faced Tulane in its American Athletic Conference opener. There was an illegal substitution penalty during the fourth quarter as the Blazers were trying to get a stop on defense and Dilfer let his assistant have it.

The Blazers are off to a 1-3 start in their first season in the conference after leaving the C-USA.

Longtime UAB coach Bill Clark retired last summer due to back problems. Dilfer was announced as the team’s next head coach in November of 2022. Dilfer coached at the high school level before accepting the UAB job.

Dilfer later cooled off after taking a long stroll down the sidelines.

Dilfer played on the Baltimore Ravens during the 2000 season and was a part of the team that won the Super Bowl that year.

There’s no telling what Dilfer said to his assistant. It might be safe to say that it was not safe for work.
