Paul Finebaum weighs in on Ohio State’s decision to suspend Urban Meyer for 3 games

The Ohio State board of trustees and president Michael Drake decided on Wednesday night to suspend coach Urban Meyer for the first three games of the 2018 season.
The suspension stems from an investigation into what Meyer knew about a 2015 domestic violence incident involving former WR coach Zach Smith.
Following the press conference, SEC Network host Paul Finebaum joined ESPN and weighed in on the situation. He started by saying he agreed with the decision to suspend Meyer for three games. He then added that he was impressed by Drake and AD Gene Smith, but underwhelmed by Meyer.
“I thought the decision was sound, and I believe this committee gave it a lot of thought,” he said. “I was impressed by the president and the athletic director, but I was underwhelmed by Urban Meyer. He read the statement like a hostage with a gun to his head. He came off as arrogant, petulant.”
Many in the media agree with Finebaum’s reaction, especially regarding Meyer’s statement to the alleged victim, Courtney Smith.
Meyer’s fate, though, has been sealed, and he’ll miss the Buckeyes’ games against Oregon State, Rutgers and TCU.
