The college football off-season generates much more off-field news than on-field. This subject matter can be bad, like a player suspension or transfer, or it can be a heartwarming story like this one coming out of Minnesota.

In his first-year as head coach of the Golden Gophers, P.J. Fleck is already making a positive impact on one player’s life.

On Wednesday, Fleck put together the inaugural Elite Egg Extravaganza. He and his staff hid at least 1,000 Easter eggs around the football facility for the players to find. After the hunt, the team gathered together in a meeting room, where an egg had been taped underneath each seat.

Inside of each egg was the same message: Walk-on junior linebacker Blake Cashman was going to receive a full-ride scholarship.

After reading the news, Cashman’s teammates exploded in a celebratory roar and rushed to congratulate him. The full video can be seen below, and it’s well worth a watch.

Cashman played in all 13 games for the Golden Gophers last season and led the team with 7.5 sacks while also recording 45 tackles and a forced fumble.
