WATCH: ESPN’s shoddy camera work causes fans to miss game-winning field goal

Being a cameraman for live sporting events is difficult, particularly when it comes to football. That’s because offenses are designed to fool defenses, so every now and then, the cameraperson will also be fooled.

On Saturday night, though, a mistake from one of ESPN’s camera operators caused fans to not be able to see Rice’s game-winning field goal against Prairie View A&M.

As you can see (or can’t see, rather) in the video below, the ESPN camera zooms out at exactly the wrong time, making it very difficult to see the kick splitting the uprights to give the Owls the win:

Again, being a camera operator isn’t easy, but missing a play like this is embarrassing, to say the least.

At least fans could see the Owls celebrating, though, so they were aware the kick went in.
