WATCH: Memphis player taken off the field on a stretcher after scary collision

Though the Memphis Tigers hold a 20-17 lead over No. 25 UCLA late in the second quarter, the excitement in the stadium was dampened after a scary play.
Memphis LB JJ Russell had to be taken off the field on a stretcher after taking a huge hit on kickoff coverage.
As you can see in the video below, Russell is blindsided by a UCLA blocker and slams into the turf, where he lay motionless for a while:

Obviously, Russell’s health is what is most important, as hits like that and head/neck injuries are always scary.
Hopefully Russell’s injury isn’t too serious.
