A rising redshirt freshman offensive lineman at South Carolina got some bad news on Sunday, as his career was forced to end due to an undisclosed medical condition.

Per The State, Maxwell Iyama won’t be able to play in the 2019 season for the Gamecocks after receiving the diagnosis.

Per the report, Iyama missed the spring with the condition and was ruled disqualified from the upcoming season by medical staff:

The redshirt freshman from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, has been medically disqualified, a team spokesman confirmed Sunday.

Iyama missed the spring with an undisclosed medical condition.

Iyama could try to get a second opinion and transfer, perhaps to the JUCO ranks if he is cleared by doctors in the future.

Per the 247Sports composite, Iyama was the No. 40 offensive tackle in the class of 2018 and the No. 15 overall recruit from the state of Tennessee.
