South Carolina softball shuts out Florida State, forces if-necessary game
South Carolina softball is still alive in the NCAA Tournament.
The Gamecocks defeated Florida State 4-0 on Sunday afternoon in Tallahassee. That result triggers a winner-take-all game that will determine the champion of the Tallahassee regional.

South Carolina scored 2 runs in the 1st inning and 2 more in the 5th to secure the win. Aniyah Black went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI in the victory. Riley Blampied and Jen Cummings also delivered RBIs in the game.
Karsen Ochs got the start in the circle and was excellent. She pitched 3 shutout innings, allowing just 2 hits and 1 walk. Donnie Gobourne followed that up with 4 perfect innings to close out the win.
It’s worth noting that Florida State aces Kathryn Sandercock did not pitch in this game. Sandercock is expected to be in the circle for the Noles in the rematch later in the day on Sunday. Makenna Reid also did not pitch in the first game on Sunday.
First pitch is expected at approximately 1:45 p.m. ET on Sunday. The winner of the rematch will advance to the Super Regional round next weekend.
