Walk-on players are the unsung heroes of the college football world, often toiling in obscurity to help the starters and scholarship players prepare for the upcoming opponent.
However, sometimes they take center stage, getting rewarded for their hard work with scholarships. A recent trend has been to surprise walk-ons with the news that they’re on scholarship, and every video is great.
As you can see below, Saturday was former South Carolina walk-on OL Chandler Farrell’s time in the spotlight. Following Saturday’s scrimmage, Farrell was given a scholarship and was immediately mobbed by his teammates:

Farrell is entering his redshirt sophomore season, so he still has plenty of time to make that scholarship count.
He appeared in two games last season and, if he continues to impress the coaching staff, he could earn some more playing time in 2018 and beyond.
