Deion Sanders, Colorado get roasted after dismal first half against Oregon
Deion Sanders did not enjoy the first half of his first Pac-12 game.
On the road against No. 10 Oregon, Colorado went into the halftime break trailing 35-0. Oregon poured it on. The only time Colorado was able to stop the Oregon offense was a second-play interception on the Ducks’ fourth drive. Oregon scored touchdowns on its first three drives, and it scored touchdowns on the two drives after the pick.
Oregon outgained Colorado 378-21. Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders was sacked four times. What was that Tyson quote? Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth? Colorado took more than a couple of shots to the face.
Sanders and his team were taking plenty of hits on social media as well. There were a handful of media members who took a more measured approach to the first half, but there were plenty of others who were just waiting to fire off jokes after Sanders and the Buffs opened the season 3-0.
Here’s some of the reaction:

Colorado isn’t going to compete with a legit team especially without their best player at this stage. 3-0 is still amazing considering where they were.

colorado looks like how when you get in a fight and the other guy hits you that first time and it’s way harder than you were expecting and your brain goes “okay yeah no this was a bad idea”

This might be why Oregon is currently taking a frying pan to Colorado's face. ???pic.twitter.com/qqN81Y44uR

Most of us were very wrong about Colorado. Today is important because now the "Deion can win a national title here" crew can join the rest of us in recalibrating

Yes, Deion has done a lot talking … because he's great at it and he's trying to send a recruiting message that Colorado is THE PLACE TO BE. The Lannings of the world are SCARED TO DEATH of what Deion is building. So Lanning can take his shots now, while he can. But #HeComing.

Deion may need to call in a bigger gun than the Rock for the halftime speech.
This is ugly.

You don't need to have a hot take about Oregon-Colorado. None of this is very surprising.
– Colorado has greatly improved
– Colorado was still a very flawed roster
– Oregon is several levels better in talent
– In the world of recruiting, Oregon wants to send a message— Chris Vannini (@ChrisVannini) September 23, 2023

Colorado is already ahead of schedule winning their first three games, but nobody should’ve realistically thought they had a shot at beating Oregon today or USC next week. You can root for Prime and still be real about the situation. Both things can be true.

Before folks overreact, I just want to make it very clear. The Colorado Buffaloes were never suppose to go undefeated and that’s completely fine

Derek Peterson does a bit of everything, not unlike Taysom Hill. He has covered Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Pac-12, and now delivers CFB-wide content.
