Jimbo Fisher shares opinion on current state of NIL, issues word of caution to players
Jimbo Fisher discussed a number of topics on Saturday. Two things he talked about included NIL deals and the transfer portal.
Fisher stated that he doesn’t think NIL is necessarily a bad thing. He did say that it needs to be regulated in his opinion.
“I don’t think it’s a bad thing,” said Fisher. “I think it needs to be regulated and controlled so that all the rules are the same.”

The Texas A&M HC issued a word of caution to players whose only goal is to receive the NIL deals. Fisher said that if that’s the only reason to play, you won’t play in the NFL or do as well as others.
“NIL is here to stay, and I think it’s great,” said Fisher. “But if that’s the only reason you play, you’re not going to play in pro ball, and you’re not going to be as great. As long as you keep the main thing the main thing, you’ll be OK.”

Fisher also talked about how good the portal has been for the Aggies this offseason. Some recent additions include CB Jordan Anthony (Kentucky), WR Jahdae Walker (Grand Valley State), and RB David Bailey (Colorado St.).
“The portal has been excellent for us this offseason,” said Fisher. “There are going to be some guys that make a difference.”

Should NIL deals be regulated?
