Things continue to trend in the right direction in Texas: Governor Greg Abbott increases permitted stadium capacity inside the state

We have good news to share from the Lone Star State as Texas Governor Greg Abbott has announced his state has met the requirements to enter the next phase of recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.
While there are many positives to come out of this news, the biggest bit of information when it comes to college football and Texas A&M is the fact that the state will now allow stadiums to increase from 25 percent capacity to 50 percent capacity.
“Stadiums, whether it be where the Mavericks play or the Texas Rangers play or the Dallas Cowboys play, will be able to seat [at] 50% capacity,” Abbott said on Wednesday according to the Dallas Morning News.
The Aggies are set to open the 2020 college football season at home as Abilene Christian is set to come to Kyle Field on Sept. 5, followed by North Texas on Sept. 12 and Colorado on Sept. 19.
This is also good news for Alabama, as the Crimson Tide are set to open the season in Arlington’s AT&T Stadium against USC on Sept. 5.
