Todd Helton has some company at the top of Tennessee’s all-time record books.

Helton has held the Volunteers’ all-time record for home runs since 1995. The longtime MLB star had 38 during his time at Knoxville from 1993-95.

Now, Helton’s home run record has company. Evan Russell tied that mark with his 38th career home run Saturday afternoon.

Russell tied the mark with his 13th home run of the season in the 5th inning vs. Mississippi State. His shot also made it 7-2, Tennessee.

Russell has a 1.055 OPS so far this season. He is also one off of his career-high marks for home runs and RBI (14, 43) set during the 2021 season.

The Volunteers have been a juggernaut all season, particularly with their power stroke. Tennessee continues to add to what is already a program record for home runs in a season.
