Kelsey Pope took over the WR coaching role at Tennessee last season. He produced a Biletnikoff winner in Jalin Hyatt and spoke to the media on Wednesday.

Pope coached both Hyatt and Cedric Tillman at Tennessee. Hyatt and Tillman are starting to receive attention from around the country as they are doing well in training camp.

Hyatt was selected by the New York Giants, while Tillman was chosen by the Cleveland Browns in this year’s NFL draft.

Pope is entering into his second season as wide receivers coach and was asked about how Josh Heupel’s offense translates to the NFL. He simply said that it’s the expectation.

“I think it’s awesome to see, but quite frankly that’s the expectation. You hear a lot of people say things about the offense, and this and that. People make up want they want to in recruiting. This offense helps guys win 1-on-1 matchups. That league is all about 1-on-1 matchups. The things those guys are doing there, it’s an expectation from everyone in this building, that they’re going to win situations like that.”

Hyatt led Tennessee with 1,267 yards receiving and 15 touchdowns. Tillman missed the majority of the season due to injury and compiled 437 yards receiving and 3 touchdowns in the six games he appeared in.
