Nico Iamaleava wows in first half vs. Chattanooga, draws heavy praise from Vol Nation

Nico Iamaleava may be even better than we all expected.

The sophomore QB completed 22 of his 28 passes in the first half for 314 yards and 3 touchdowns. He started the day 10-10 for 159 yards and 2 touchdowns, and his throws were about as perfect as you can imagine. Folks, Iamaleava was SCORCHING hot in the first half.

Okay, let’s slow our roll here slightly. It is just FCS Chattanooga, a team not exactly known for its complex coverages and defensive prowess.

But Iamaleava has been completing passes to different receivers on all parts of the field. He’s run head coach Josh Heupel’s offense to perfection on the way to a 45-0 lead heading into halftime. And if I had to bet, I’d say Iamaleava’s day is done for the Tennessee Volunteers.
