Tennessee baseball adds another sweep to hot start, first SEC team in 28 years to start 9-0 in league play

Tennessee baseball is not showing any sign of cooling off, and now the Vols have added a sweep of Vanderbilt to their unbelievable, and now historic, start.
The Vols beat Vanderbilt 5-0 to close the series as Drew Beam improved to 6-0 on the mound. Drew Gilbert paced the Vols on offense with a 2-for-5 day, including a double, home run and 3 RBI. The Vols got 4 of the runs from the seventh inning on, and Vanderbilt was held to 2 hits on the day.
Tennessee now has 19 straight wins, a program record, and is the first SEC team in 28 years to start 9-0 in league play.
On Saturday, Trey Lipscomb went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and 3 RBIs. Jordan Beck also had a multi-hit effort, and went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.
On Friday, the Vols’ Christian Moore was the only player to record a multi-hit game, his second in a row, while Jordan Beck and Luc Lipcius drove in a pair of runs and Trey Lipscomb had a game-high 2 runs scored.
The road has also been kind to the Vols.
Tennessee has now won 8 consecutive SEC road series, a feat that stretches back to 2019. The Vols are 8-0 in weekend series on the road since the beginning of last season.
