Tennessee basketball officially announces signing of Harvard transfer Chris Ledlum

Tennessee basketball has added 3 transfers this offseason: USC Upstate’s Jordan Gainey, Northern Colorado’s Dalton Knecht and Harvard’s Chris Ledlum.
Gainey signed with the Vols Tuesday. On Wednesday, Ledlum officially put the pen to the paper.
And that’s huge for Tennessee. Ledlum averaged 18.8 points and 8.5 rebounds for the Crimson last season and was a menace on the defensive end. The 6-6 forward is exactly the type of player Rick Barnes likes to put to the court and should see significant minutes from the jump.
Barnes spoke about Ledlum Wednesday following his signing:
“Chris has many of the characteristics we value in our program,” Barnes told On3Sports. “He has a tremendous work ethic and plays with grit, toughness and a bit of swagger”

Tennessee basketball is going to look very different in 2023-24. We’ve already discussed the Vols’ 3 transfer commits, all of whom will likely make an impact on the court next season, but Tennessee has also lost a lot of pieces from last year. Tyreke Key is out of eligibility, and it looks as if Olivier Nkamhoua, Uros Plavsic, Josiah-Jordan James and Julian Phillips will all be departing the program this offseason as well.
Phillips’ name appeared on the NBA Draft combine roster Tuesday. Nkamhoua entered the portal earlier in the offseason but seems to intend to play professionally (potentially overseas), while James and Plavsic’s future intentions are still TBD.
It should be noted that with a strong group of incoming freshmen, Santiago Vescovi’s return and the 3 transfer commits previously mentioned, Tennessee has reached its scholarship limit for next season. If James, Plavsic or Phillips were to return, which seems unlikely, someone would either have to enter the portal or play the season as a walk-on.
