Tennessee is going with its classic look to open the 2023 season.

The Volunteers revealed on Thursday that they will wear white helmets, orange jerseys and white pants for Saturday’s game in Nashville against the Virginia Cavaliers.

There is a lot of excitement surrounding Josh Heupel’s squad coming off an 11-2 season capped by an Orange Bowl win in 2022. Tennessee enters the 2023 campaign ranked No. 12 in the AP Top 25.

Heupel found success in the transfer portal with Hendon Hooker, who is now with the Detroit Lions. Vols fans are hoping that Joe Milton, also a transfer QB, can keep the parade of points going for Heupel in Year 3.

Milton is in his sixth college year. He played for Michigan from 2018-to-2020 before transferring to Tennessee. Milton won the starting job to open the 2021 season but was replaced by Hooker early in the year.

In the Orange Bowl victory over Clemson, Milton was 19-of-28 for 251 yards and 3 touchdowns with no interceptions. Saturday, he’ll be facing a Virginia defense that is without its top pass-rusher.

Saturday’s game is set for noon ET/11 a.m. CT from Nissan Stadium, with the game airing on ABC.
