Matthew McConaughey always has time to talk Texas football.

A Texas alumnus, McConaughey is among the football program’s most prominent supporters. More than just a Texas superfan, McConaughey joined the Moody College of Communication as a professor of practice in 2019 co-teaching the “Script to Screen” film production class with lecturer and director Scott Rice.
McConaughey and Longhorns fans have had lots to cheer about this season. Steve Sarkisian’s squad is off to a 7-1 start that includes a win over Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
Texas is well-positioned among 1-loss teams. The College Football Playoff selection committee ranked the Longhorns at No. 7, behind Oregon but ahead of Alabama and Oklahoma. The Sooners handed Texas its only loss of the season.
As the pregame show suggests, Saturday’s Texas-Kansas State is set for noon ET from Austin. The game is airing on FOX.
