The Vanderbilt men’s basketball team is trying to rebuild its program as coach Jerry Stackhouse enters the second year of his tenure in Nashville.
However, on Thursday, the Commodores were getting roasted on social media after a tweet with a motto that really has no place in basketball.
As you can see below, the Commodores tweeted that they were building brick by brick:
Obviously, you don’t want to talk about bricks when it comes to basketball, as that’s a word that means a horribly missed shot. Oh, and then there’s the fact that that was a motto used by former Tennessee coach Butch Jones, and the Vols were mercilessly roasted for it.
Let’s just say fans had some fun with the Commodores’ tweet on Thursday morning:

@VandyAD @VU_Chancellor Great job firing the athletics communications team and replacing them with a professional that would seriously write this tweet. “Brick by brick” as a tweet for a basketball team coming off of two last place finishes? Are you trying to get made fun of?

Back to the drawing board. Time to build a new motto for the basketball team brick by brick.
