It’s interesting to note that the Minnesota Vikings drafted two wide receivers from the same school in the 4th round of this weekend’s NFL Draft (16 picks apart) in former Arkansas Razorbacks’ Jarius Wright and Greg Childs. What you might not know is that these two have been playing together since elementary school.

Janoris Jenkins was one of the cornerstones of the heralded 2008 recruiting haul by Urban Meyer for the Florida Gators. Upon arriving in Gainesville, he contributed immediately by becoming the 2nd true freshman in school history to start at cornerback on opening day and accumulating 3 interceptions during the Championship 2008 season.

With the Aggies first season in the Southeastern Conference still ahead of us, many SEC fans might not be too familiar with the story of Texas A&M’s quarterback from 2011, Ryan Tannehill. As football fans approached the NFL Draft, we were of course overwhelmed with the Andrew Luck and RG3 discussion, but Tannehill’s name started to become mentioned rather frequently as Draft Day approached.

Steve Spurrier likes to make news around this time of the year. Last year, heading into the SEC Spring Meetings, he proposed the ridiculous idea to pay players out of the head coach’s own pocket. This year, his latest idea has a bit more sense to it.

The University of Florida has decided to cut the budget of its computer science program eliminating many of the resources for graduate level study and research. Meanwhile, the University’s athletic budget has actually increased roughly $2 million while cutting the computer science program has resulted in savings of roughly $1.5 million. Clearly, the University values football over academics. Gridiron success over technological achievement.

We’ve counted down from the weakest schedules in the conference next season, and we now have come to the top. The Ole Miss Rebels’ 2012 schedule isn’t just the most difficult schedule in 2012, it’s not even close. This schedule is so hard, Hugh Freeze might regret accepting this position come November. Have a look and decide for yourself…

We come to the top two toughest schedules in the SEC. The Alabama Crimson Tide, coming off a 2011 national championship, will be looking to reload in 2012. The Tide will have plenty of incoming talent to remain highly competitive, but the schedule will make it difficult to run the table.

The Auburn Tigers come into 2012 looking to rebound after a BCS Champioship hangover. Losing offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn and stud running back Michael Dyer doesn’t help, but the Tigers still have some nice talent on the roster. They’ll need it as they have the third toughest schedule in the SEC.

As we made the case in the 2012 Gators schedule, the top five SEC schedules are in a league of their own. The difficulty level with these schedules is very high. The South Carolina Gamecocks, coming into 2012 with a potential top ten ranking, face a very difficult schedule.
