How does that sounds remotely "butt hurt"? Clearly that doesn't mean what you think it means. Or perhaps you have a reading comprehension problem. Hugh Freeze doesn't play that game. He is always positive. He said very nice things about State & Arkansas. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find where he's said anything negative about any team or coach. There is something to be said for a man with that much integrity who also exceeds his expectations & goals. You clearly wouldn't know anything about that....

Sorry for being so long winded above. I'm sure no one cares to read the dissertation length comment I just made. Oh well, it's just one more opinion & we all know that saying about opinions...

I don't think there is anything wrong with diehard fans who are unwilling or unable to attend that particular school being diehard fans but to say that it's narrow minded to point out that someone probably didn't even attend school there is actually a valid point. Someone who contributed a sizable amount of money to that university through tuition & living expenses & dozens of other fees, etc. does have a bit more dog in this particular fight. It isn't a invalid distinction to make. More importantly, they dedicated a sizable chunk of their life to finishing what they started at that particular university. But for those students you claim are elitist, there would be no university & thus no football team for which one could be a fan. Unfortunately, there is often a difference between the actions of the alumni versus the fans. I'm sure there are many & varied reasons for that difference that may or may not be significant in this argument. The bottom line is "fans" or students that behave the way the guy described do reflect poorly on the university & the football team they love. They are an embarrassment to every school & all schools have them, just maybe not to this extent. I haven't experienced or even heard of anything remotely close to the level of ugliness described. Instead of lobbing ad hominems at the victim(s) in the scenarios & questioning their validity & truthfulness, a simple apology would have helped to begin redeeming your fan base. Attacking him only served to give credence to the accusations. I, for one, would absolutely try to step in & apologize had it happened in front of me & at my alma mater. I hope this letter serves as a clearly much needed wake up call & may even help be an impetus for change. This type of behavior is unacceptable anywhere under any circumstances. In fact it's criminal behavior. Throwing a bottle at & spitting on someone constitutes a criminal act. No one should accept that, fan or not.

That Ole Miss one is awful. I agree with the Evil Kneivel / Super Dave comments.
