i think you're mostly right. he is being used more conservatively in games we do not need him to run as much. But, you can bet you will see him running a decent amount against Bama and OM. Thats how we get first downs on third and short and continue drives. His running ability is the reason he has the highest QBR on third down of any QB in college football by a wide margin. Its the threat of running and the fact that he can line up and get 2 yds almost automatically
not at all. i'm saying generally their lines are both terrible on offense and defense and that is a larger issue. And that its easier to project an OL or DL than a QB and generally teams play conservative with their first round pick due to the amount of guaranteed money and go with a guy that is more likely to make it. Ex: OL or DL
agreed. There was no "hitch" when he was running around Saturday. Glad to see him healthy for such a big game. This will also help him keep his feet under him and make better throws which he wasnt doing the last couple of games while injured.
@croomdawg mostly because the worst teams in the league (who pick first) have those major weaknesses. Also, those are the easiest positions to project to the NFL. projecting QB's is damn near impossible outside of the surefire guys like Luck was
Really hard to truly determine. i dont look at total yards so much because of the differences in the way the games they played went dictates total rushing attempts and thus total yds. JRob - 6.8 ypc Marsh - 6.6 ypc CAP - 5.4 ypc Dak - 5.3 ypc They are all so close. Both are incredibly tough to defend
hard to call it a trap game when our next two games are at home agains Arkansas and UT Martin. there isnt a team to be looking ahead to. Kentucky is the best team we play the next 3 weeks
in what world can arkansas score 48 points? much less against a D that just shut out mizzou. i could definitely see a scenario where they win but it wont be by that score
can we not compare a young man that has been considered one of the top character guys in all of college football to Winston? To call him the next Winston is an insult
i think your article assumes correctly that most MSU/OM fans do not know about the face price reservations, having never been in scenarios like this recently. I had no idea
no SEC lineman has ever won it 3 weeks in a row. Kudos to Preston. Here's to hoping he gets another one against LSU
how is preston smith not mentioned despite earning his second consecutive SEC defensive lineman of the week award?
in the MSU-OM rivalry, there have actually been 110 games OM leads 61-43-6
really enjoy articles like this. Also really nice with the GIFs so that we don't have to open up video after video.
Kiper also has him as the number 1 underclassman in the country for the draft......
If McKinney (whos ranked as the #13 draft prospect by Mel Kiper) is your number 29, I cannot wait to see your top 28. this is a bit of a joke
Brian, you made this comment "none of the players who have come aboard out of the 13 are in-state products" 7 of our current commits are from Mississippi althought linton wont be on our board long. he is OM bound
Brian, just to update your article, 247 gave stamps his initial rating at 3* 88 yesterday.
it is. but for what its worth, it did come SLIGHTLY before his commitment. haha
Brian, Jay Johnson received a 4 Star 90 rating yesterday morning from 247.
