Steven A should stick to sports he knows about. I think the A&M brass are more worried about hanging on to as much talent as possible. They're looking for someone they can plug in and put the talent in the right places. Not someone to come in and wipe the slate clean the way he did at CU.
Oregon state would have a legitimate chance to be the highest ranked G5 champion next year if they join the Mountain West.
Boy, this game. Almost every year this game comes down to the wire. It seems we always come out of this one dinged up. Arkansas plays hard, clean, physical football. Also their players showed serious class to Anias Smith after his injury. Big kudos to the hogs but so happy for the win.
Includes 2023 UGA – 1 KY – 2 FL – 4 Mizzou – 4 USCe – 9 TN – 2 Vandy – 3
Go read a different site then. If you hate something so much, why do you give it clicks and dollars?
Yeah looks like the same deal. Apparently texas has a 21% chance of making the playoff. In what world?
Did Brandon Pope forget the Oregon lost to 3-5 Stanford and are still in the top 4? I think there’s plenty of concern here about the perceived bias of Bama at 2, but to say Bamas loss was worse than Oregon’s is a farce.
At the end of the day, any job in the SEC is a great job for the person that can handle or control the meddling, politics, etc that was stated. Finebaum said it a few weeks ago that Nick Saban walked in and had the ability to completely shut off the meddling and look a the result. It's the best job in America for the person that can do that. If you can't control it, go to the Pac-12.
I don't know if the person who made the original should be fired or promoted.
Well then maybe he should write that. Historically, OSU has never lost a game to a lesser team...
Love an ugly win. Always better than a pretty loss.
"If the ACC gets 2 teams in the Playoff (the anticipated result), the Aggies have no Playoff path. Alabama (win or lose to Florida) is in, and the winner of the Big Ten Championship Game is in." Didn't Northwestern lose to 2-5 Michigan State? Also, how bout that all powerful "eye test" we've been hearing about. Sure, seems logical.
Just for reference here, on active rosters yesterday: SEC - 35 B1G - 34 Pac 12 - 30 Acc - 27 Big 12 - 19
Agreed. I think these rules are too open to interpretation. The NCAA needs to set clear standards for this or change the punishment.
Crap. Just found this: ARTICLE 3. No player shall target and make forcible contact against an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul. (Rule 9-6) (A.R. 9-1-3-I) There are two rules for targeting. 1 general rule prohibiting leading with the crown of the helmet and 1 for defenseless players. Probably should have been called. I rescind my previous comment.
It does have to be a defenseless player. That's the whole purpose of targeting: No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent (See Note 2 below) with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul (Rules 2-27-14 and 9-6). (A.R. 9-1-4-I-VI) Defenseless Player is defined as one of the following: A player in the act of or just after throwing a pass. A receiver attempting to catch a forward pass or in position to receive a backward pass, or one who has completed a catch and has not had time to protect himself or has not clearly become a ball carrier. A kicker in the act of or just after kicking a ball, or during the kick or the return. A kick returner attempting to catch or recover a kick, or one who has completed a catch or recovery and has not had time to protect himself or has not clearly become a ball carrier. A player on the ground. A player obviously out of the play. A player who receives a blind-side block. A ball carrier already in the grasp of an opponent and whose forward progress has been stopped. A quarterback any time after a change of possession. A ball carrier who has obviously given himself up and is sliding feet-first. They could have called him for unnecessary roughness, leading with the helmet but by definition, not targeting.
40,000 of those are students who don't need hotel rooms and will get 2 more days at home with families, probably another 20,000 are from the BCS area, and it's still over 6 weeks out. Plenty of time to change hotel reservations without getting charged. Plus the large majority of these people attending are off work already. I just don't think it's that big of a deal. I'm not saying it's the perfect situation, but from a winning perspective an extra 2 days to prepare for that LSU defense seems like a win to me.
I say move the game to Saturday. Big deal if our players get an extra 2 days to rest up before playing against LSU.
Yeah eking you need to chill out bro. Let's get a W over LSU before you start spewing nonsense. I also don't understand the Arkansas reference. Makes zero sense.
Ok? So we punish a team for barely escaping this week, but don't punish the team who got the L and barely escaped in 4 of its other 5 games. I get that they "outplayed" the ags but doesn't the W trump everything else?
Yeah good call. Except you're awful at math. 3.9 without the prairie view game. Good luck running the ball saturday.
Also I said USC should have been a gimme. I didn't count it as a good win.
VA Tech has beaten Liberty, Boston College and ECU with a 3 td loss to Tennessee. How are they not overrated? Liberty barely fields a team, ECU is not the ECU of the past several years and Boston College is the worst team in the ACC. So far they have beaten nobody. USC may not be as good as them but it's a Muschamp defense in a true road game. Comparing schedules, I don't think VA Tech even comes close to touching UCLA.
Keep in mind it's a computer doing these things. This isn't someone's prediction, it's purely based on stats and efficiencies. Oddshark has the game predicted at 32-29 for the Aggies so these things are all over the place. Just gives SDS something to post. However, I completely disagree with you on strength of record. 3 home wins for Tennessee with 2 being App St. and Ohio. 1 true road win over a struggling Georgia team and a neutral site win over an overrated Va Tech team. A&M already has 2 true road conference wins (yes I recognize SC should have been a gimme) and 1 home and 1 neutral site win over ranked teams. Doesn't seem that similar to me.
Yeah good call. Because A&M is the team who's choked away a 4th quarter lead and lost in OT the last two years....oh wait.
