Not a Zinger, folks. Coach Spurrier's point is totally on the level. Which is, all coaches recruit the best they can, from the cream of the crop that they can get their hands on, but that doesn't guarantee results, because, look at how a (rejected by UVA) transfer from VA came to GA and then turned out to be a NCAA record-setter by his third game. It's a totally logical statement that puts down neither GA nor UVA. It's more like, "Whaddawe have to do to get a great football star? You never know who's going to rise to the top- we recruit from the top drawer and then get pounded by a guy who transferred to UGA after UVA kicked him to the curb."
No, you're not the only one. Not a zinger at all. But most of my fellow Dawg fans cannot see the great Coach Spurrier in anything other than a negative light. I do not fit that mold, as I have immense respect for the OHBC, and I do recognize that he gives UGA more respect in the press, and has done so throughout his entire tenure at SC, than any other coach of his caliber in the NCAA.
So, the SEC is admitting that the rash of unbelievable and highly consequential mistakes in SEC officiating this year is simply due to incompetence?
