What could be more All American/NFL/SEC/ALA than money, guns, and violence? He has always been a dirty player who should have and would have been ejected from many games for targeting.
"It was an honor being coached by such a magnificent coordinator. He put every player on the field in the best position to be successful." You certainly cannot say that about the OC. Shortly after this tweet Hunter and a group of juniors who Chavis could have convinced to stay announced for the draft. Chavis as Mr. DBU/NFLU has been a very influential recruiter. He was the lead on Phillips, Martin, Amadi and Dylan Jackson, all Vol targets. They were all LSU leans. He's been in Tennessee for visits with them and was at the State Championships when Phillips and Jackson played. He loved LSU and left because of the Miles to Michigan talk, him being fired when Fulmer left Tenn, and Miles stating on Dec 22 in a press conference that he had no feeling one way or the other about A&M pursing Chavis. It was not about money in the beginning and he would have signed a guaranteed extension. Mack, Phillips, and Martin immediately dropped LSU along with a slew of other targets as soon as they saw LSU lose the #1 DC in the SEC while giving the last place OC a raise to 1.5mm. Miles met with Chavis after the fact, when it was too late, and matched the A&M offer but the clause remained. Chavis will always be an icon at LSU, a respected recruiter, and innovator. The #1 DC and quality coaching stability is key to DBU recruiting and when Tolliver and Moses are not happy, the negativity around the program with Miles to Michigan rumors and a broken offense suggests the last thing LSU needed was to lose Chief Chavis and reward Cameron. Chief was ignored and his extension with a 6 month termination clause was not the security he needed or deserved. Good luck Chief. We know how much you loved LSU.
Jameis Winston said he definitely wanted to and would be playing right now for Texas for dual sports, academics (podiatry), and the 4.0 GPA HS grad never could get Mack Brown's attention. Another blunder on UT Brown's part. He also liked Miami and ultimately Jimbo and the baseball coach, as well as academics sold him. He never considered Alabama, maybe because as Joe Namath said in January, Alabama will not play a black quarterback period.
