According to MSU head coach Dan Mullen, starting corner Tolando Cleveland has torn his ACL, and will be out for the year.

Thinning depth in the secondary even further, fellow DB Ced Jiles will be out until ‘midseason’ with a broken arm.

Losing Cleveland is a massive blow for the Bulldogs. With the departure of Taveze Calhoun and Will Redmond, Cleveland — a senior out of Georgia — was expected to be the leader of a very inexperienced group. He started six games last year for MSU and accrued the most tackles of any corner (42) on the roster in 2015.

Jiles was expected to be the other starter at corner opposite Cleveland. Also a senior, Jiles had four pass-breakups and 15 tackles last season.

With both out for the foreseeable future, the Bulldogs will rely upon the likes of Chris Stamps, Chris Rayford, Lashard Durr and Maurice Smitherman to man the position.
