South Carolina fans hoping that Shaq Davidson could emerge as a support option in the passing game behind Pharoh Cooper and Jerell Adams are going to have to look elsewhere.

The redshirt freshman will miss the entire 2015 season due to surgeries on each of his knees.

Davidson, who also fought through injuries in high school, was competing for time at the X receiver slot. He’ll petition the NCAA for a sixth year of eligibility, according to The State newspaper.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound wideout tore a ligament in one knee and will have another surgery on the opposite knee in six weeks.

Deebo Samuel is expected to start opposite Cooper against the North Carolina Tar Heels. Carlton Heard, Shamier Jeffery, Terry Googer and Matrick Belton also should see the field at receiver.
