While he may not be the “head ball coach” anymore, Steve Spurrier is still very much involved with South Carolina athletics.

According to a report form The State’s Josh Kendall, Spurrier has officially accepted an ambassador role with the Gamecocks athletic department.

It is a role that was detailed in his 2013 contract extension, and a transition that has been discussed since Spurrier decided to resign from his post as head football coach in the middle of the 2015 season.

According to the report, Spurrier assumed his ambassador role last month.

“I go into the McGuire room halftime of (some basketball) game, see some booster people, shake a few hands, hang out with them a little bit,” South Carolina’s former football coach said Monday.

Easy enough, right?

Kendall reports that Spurrier will make an annual salary of $100,000 in this role.

While not exactly coaching money, that’s plenty enough to cover the Ole Ball Coach’s greens fees in his semi-retirement.
