UK police have charged a university law student with wanton endangerment for crashing his drone into Commonwealth Stadium just before kickoff last week.

Peyton Wilson, 24, was charged in the incident, and he was standing outside of the stadium operating the drone when it crashed into the suite level in the stadium.

Although no one was injured in the incident, it was in airspace close to heliports at nearby UK Chandler Hospital and Baptist Hospital.

“We hope that this will set a precedent that this will not be not be tolerated at the University of Kentucky in these venues without prior approval,” UK Police Chief Monroe said. “We’re using this incident to evaluate what preventive measures we can actually increase to prevent this from happening again. One of the things we’re doing is we’re going to put in our parking lots signs that say this is a no drone fly zone.”
